Housing in Villena
single house
The housing scheme, planned for a newlywed couple, reflects the intention of turning their  night-and -day  units towards  a large patio perpendicular to the facade,  closing a street of little visual interest street .

The patio is generated by separating the building from the middling 3.5 m along its length and E orientation. This determines a band that is partly developed on the ground floor, forming a small garden, and, primarily, a first floor as a terrace.

The proposal responds to an area located right on the border between two different urban patterns . The building facade intended to reflect this through a transition of different scales of hollow,  from  larger and more public, ones, to the most domestic and small ones. The cover shot makes up a significant part that defines the image of the building at urban level. It aims to promote the use of their spaces and relate them to a compositional languag linked to an organic image.

Faced with overly rigid planning rules and the absence of an immediate built environment that invites to optimism  the project intends  to understand the building as a compact  element by the  abstraction of an lattice-envelope that acts as a unifying element of the set, as well as necessary  climate regulatory. It's an intervention based on detached housing units that are aligned with the two long plot sides,   leaving a central strip of open space for private garden, and finding its singularity at the end of the piece, with the location of housing for disabled people.

URBAN PATCHWORK

To make truly radical decisions about the city, to link different stakeholders in order to create sustainable forms of living, to develop new concepts for the public , our visions have to be clear and able to conceive the thinking of urban space as a choreographic composition with realistic rules and negotiation mechanisms.

A systemic and adaptable to different phases solution for  the future development of the city  that can turn the area into a new source of social strength in the city.

SYNERGY and GROWTH are the concepts that occur in a simultaneous process, with two distinct interventions:

GROUND: treatment of respecting the pre-existing base fabric. SUPERSTRUCTURE: construction system to release the ground plane and be flexible in the planning stages.

We propose operations  that reflect the urban space as a choreographic construction, with rules and implicit negotiation mechanisms among its users, convinced that there`s no  enviromentally sustainable community if it is not also socially. The management strategy is summarized in: An INFRASTRUCTURAL BASE FABRIC  that contains internal communications, three residential typologies and social  and tertiary use spaces and...
some  INTERSTITIAL EMPTIES  between the urban fabric that are the biggest green recreational use areas.
